Part of the Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain Platform (CASC), World Trading Unit business unit is the world leader in the trading of grains and oilseeds. Commodities such as barley, corn, soybeans, sunflower seeds, wheat and vegetable oils are traded on a global worldwide basis. Headquartered in Geneva, WTU builds its success on employees' ability to understand international markets, formulate gameplans and execute trades.
The World Trading Unit is now hiring for a new role within the forwarding group:
GRAINS AND OILSEEDS QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST
based in Geneva and reporting to the Forwarding Leader.
Role and Responsibilities
Plays a proactive advisory role to WTU functions to ensure processes, procedures and practices are in line with importing/ exporting countries food safety regulations
Acts as a link amongst CASC Platform business units to ensure WTU has access to local government information. Recommends action plans to ensure WTU is compliant in its trades and customer service
Plays an advisory role and partner closely with the trading and forwarding teams on product quality aspects throughout the entire execution of the contract
Works closely with supply chain grain & oilseeds origination groups to proactively identify risks/ opportunities & trends on quality and impact on our business
Keeps updated on and communicates regulations with and to concerned business units within the CASC Platform
Acts as center of expertise for WTU on commodity quality aspects; ensures adequate training to the various stakeholders
Acquires and maintains necessary official certifications (GTP, HAACP) required for grain trading across the globe.
Requirements
Education - Agronomy degree or similar background
Deep knowledge and at least 5 years experience with agricultural commodities quality matters. Understands impact of quality deviations on execution matters and customer relations
Good understanding of EU regulations as well as GTP/HAACP criteria and international commodity contracts such as GAFTA/FOSFA
Ability to rapidly assimilate and integrate legal issues and regulations constraints
Previous exposure to logistics aspects - e.g. loading/discharge operations/storage and food safety issues/land-ocean transportation
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent communicator/ facilitator and influencing skills; previous experience in creating work processes with internal and external partners
Ability to travel on short notice to settle quality related issues at loading/ discharge points
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, previous experience in implementing controls and setting up risk management policies
Efficient and decisive approach to problems
English - proficient level, French language a plus.
